Artist & Founder
I paint because I need to. After years of working in human rights — in conflict zones, in difficult rooms, carrying difficult realities — making something with my hands became necessary. A counterweight. A way back to what is enduring.
Light on water. Pebbles through glass. Wool between fingers. These are the things that stay.
"I want to make pieces so quietly beautiful that when you come upon them, the noise of the day subsides."
Atelier Cuvillier is a small studio in Sweden where paintings, clay, and wool become quiet objects for living with. Each piece is made alone, slowly, in small quantities. That is the only way I know how.
See the CollectionNordic light
The quality of Scandinavian light — low angle, long shadow, water-filtered — makes ordinary surfaces luminous.
Still water
Pebbles seen through clear water. The way movement and stillness coexist. That is what I reach for in every piece.
The archipelago
Coast, rock, weather. The Swedish west coast teaches you to see. Every studio session starts with a walk, or the memory of one.
Clay in hands
There is no shortcut with clay. Each vessel holds the moment it was made — the pressure, the warmth, the quiet of that hour.
Natural texture
Linen, wool, raw canvas. Materials that age with grace. The home as a living thing, not a staged environment.
The in-between
The pause between exhale and inhale. Stillness that is not empty — it is full.
Made by hand
Every piece is painted, formed, or felted individually. No mass production, no shortcuts. The hand shows in every piece.
Made in small runs
Paintings are one of a kind. Clay and wool pieces are made in limited quantities. When they are gone, they are gone.
Shipped with care
Each piece is carefully packaged and shipped directly from Sweden. Tracked and insured for all destinations.
